Eat right & healthy – support your Pilates journey

Pilates is an excellent way for anyone to exercise and to become stronger and more flexible. Taking Pilates classes a couple of times a week allows you to keep up with your fitness routine and to stay in shape. However, exercising alone is never enough to keep your body healthy and happy. You also have to eat right to stay lean and in shape.

In this article, we will look at great ways to keep your diet healthy.

Vegetables are your best friend

Everyone should eat vegetables. The fact is, that vegetables provide a lot of vitamins and minerals that we cannot get anywhere else. No matter what your diet looks like, you should always remember to add some colorful veggies in your meals throughout the day. And when we say colorful, we do not mean only potatoes.

Eat right & stay healthy

Below are some delicious veggies that you can use when cooking your meals – you can even put them in your smoothies!

  • Carrots
  • Broccoli
  • Cucumber
  • Peas
  • Bell peppers
  • Celery
  • Salads
  • Spinach
  • Artichoke
  • Asparagus
  • Beets

Vegetables provide your body with the nutrients it needs. Also, carrying vegetables with you in a little snack pack is a great way to keep snacks on you throughout the day.

Fruits and berries

Fruits and berries are wonderful snacks, too. There is a common misconception that fruits and berries have “too much” sugar. While it is true that they include sugars, these are not the sugars you have to worry about – it’s the granulated, white and brown sugar you want to keep out of your coffee, drinks, and meals.

Fruits are excellent for smoothies. Below is a fantastic smoothie recipe that you can try:

Meats in moderation

You may have heard that meats should be eaten in moderation. Generally, it is the recommendation and you should limit your meat intake. Some healthier options for red meat are fish and chicken, for instance. Also, when you buy meats, ensure that you get the freshest possible meat!

You won’t have to live without goodies

Many people believe that eating right means that you cannot have any treats, desserts, or sugars. However, you can eat a piece of candy or a delicious dessert every now and then (unless you are in a strict dieting program, of course). The key to eating healthy is to eat everything in moderation.

Water instead of soda and juices

Soda and juices include sugars, which (ultimately) are not good for you. Even some fruit juices have added sugars in them, which is why avoiding juices is not a bad idea, either. Water is important for us for many reasons:

  • It hydrates us and keeps us alive
  • It makes our skin glow
  • It can help with weight-loss
  • Dehydration can lead to tiredness, bad sleep, weight gain, loss of energy, etc.

You should try to drink water throughout the day – and don’t forget to bring a water bottle to Pilates class!
